Step #1... Dream A Little

The first step is to dream a little. Don't be too realistic, or practical at this point of the process. There are quite a few good online resources to get you started.

  • House Beautiful
  • www.housebeautiful.com
  • Better Homes and Gardens
  •
    www.bhg.com
  • Country Journal
  •
    www.countryliving.com

Now would be a good time to jot down some ideas and perhaps draw some sketches of what you would like your new home to look like and what features it should include. Some of the things you can include are the following:

    • What style home, ie- Rambler, Daylight Basement, 2-Story, Multi-Level.
    • Features inside your home, ie- Number of bedrooms, media room, wet bar etc.
    • Use of space, ie- Open, flowing spaces. Or traditional, well defined spaces.

After you have a rough idea of what you want your new home to be, take a look at Alan Mascord Design Associates, Inc. as a good source for quality home plans. We highly recommend Mascord because of their attention to detail and state of the art design practices.

The next step is to explore the Pacific Northwest, to determine where you would like to build your new home...
